How do I apply for Financial Aid?
You can find the application form here: https://mvlasc.byga.net/f/honzgwktun. Please be sure to include all required documents. If you have any questions, please email financial.aid@mvlasc.org.
How much aid is available? Am I guaranteed aid?
Each year the club budgets a set amount to support the financial aid program, but this does not guarantee that all applicants will receive support.
What does Financial Aid cover?
Financial Aid covers MVLA club dues and coaching fees. It does not include tournament fees, travel, lodging, apparel, or miscellaneous expenses.
Do we get any assistance with purchasing a player's uniform?
Beginning Fall 2023, if you receive financial aid, you will also receive a coupon code valued at $250 to use to order your player’s uniform through the Capelli website. An email will be sent to you with your player’s own unique coupon code.
Please note, that the Spring 25 season will be the last season that MVLA will be using the Capelli branded uniform so alternative assistance may be offered (like loaner uniforms) instead of the coupon code.
Who decides which families receive financial aid?
The MVLASC Financial Aid Committee, comprised of three MVLASC board members, follows the guidelines of Financial Aid to make all financial aid decisions.
What factors go into awarding Financial Aid?
The MVLASC Financial Aid Program largely depends on a family’s qualification with required proof of eligibility. For those requesting aid but who do not qualify, the Financial Aid application includes a section to explain extenuating circumstances for aid requests.
What other requirements are needed for Financial Aid?
All families receiving financial assistance will be required to perform the league- mandated 6 hours of volunteer service/per player/season. Families cannot choose to pay the buy-out fee and are required to report their hours at the end of the season using the Volunteer Form found on the Volunteer page of our website.
When will I know if I qualify for aid, and amount of award?
Families will be notified either by email of program acceptance/denial and the amount of award based on season and age group of participant(s). All families will be notified by MVLASC within approximately 4 weeks of receipt of application form.
If I have more than one player in my family, do I need to complete a Financial Aid application for each one?
Yes, MVLASC requires a separate form for each member of the family.
Do I need to complete a Financial Aid form for each year I need aid?
Yes, MVLASC requires each family to complete a new application each year.
